Category:The Substitute Folder
From New Teacher Handbook
A substitute folder contains all the additional information and materials that are needed to go along with the plan book.
There are as many different formats for the substitute folder as there are teachers. You may keep your materials in a binder or a folder, just make sure that it is clearly labeled as “Substitute” on it. Just make sure that has the following:
- The school bell schedule
- A list of any duties you perform outside the classroom, such as hall duty, cafeteria duty, study hall, bus duty, detention. Be sure to include the procedures that are expected.
- Up to date class lists
- Up to date seating charts
- A copy of the school’s emergency plan
- A extra set of worksheets appropriate for your grade level in case there is a problem with your lesson plans.
It is also a good idea to write emergency plans for a substitute to leave in your desk for unforeseen circumstances.
