'Ways to Create Learning Buddies:'

Provide a diagram for each student that is related to the unit of study. Be sure there are several empty spaces on the diagram for names. Start with a simple diagram with 2 - 4 empty spaces and progress as the students catch on. Students then take several minutes to actively collect names of classmates in the empty spaces on the diagram. These names will be used later to create the pairs for discussion.
