Mentor Job Description for Pelham School District

The role of a mentor is a challenging one that encompasis a variety of skills. A good mentor uses active listening, paraphrasing and cognitive coaching to faciliate the professional growth of the teachers new to the district. In addition to orienting a new teacher to the workplace and the culture of the building, a mentor is responsible for assisting the teacher as they grow as a professional. As a mentor, you will be assisting new teachers in refining their teaching practices and understanding the learning needs of all students in their care. You will be acting as a role model for teachers new to the district acting as trainer, observer and teacher.

This is a stipend position. You must be a continuing contract teacher to be eligible for the position.
