Teacher Page
Welcome to our WebQuest on the
Ecosystems. This page is designed
for teacher use. On this page you
will find:
á
Applicable
Grade Levels: The
WebQuest is suitable for students in grades 3 through 6. We specifically designed the WebQuest
for fifth grade, but with adjustments the WebQuest can be used at other levels.
á
Time Management: The WebQuest can be completed many different ways in order
to fit your studentsÕ needs. When
we designed the quest for our students, we developed it to be relatively
self-explanatory, because many of our students do not have a lot of experience
with computers. We have estimated
that the entire WebQuest can be completed within a one week time period. Sessions should be at least one hour if
you have to include set-up and shutdown of your computers. Students will be working both on the
computer and on their ecosystem books at different intervals throughout the
week. IF you will not be able to
have computer access for a consecutive week, you can have your students
complete all the research first and then complete the ecosystem book.

Roles: Every student in the group should have an opportunity to
experience each role. Every time
the group meets, the students should rotate to the next role. For example: On Day 1 the student who was the Tech. Support would be the
Efficiency Expert on Day 2. The
Efficiency Expert from Day 1 would be the Recorder on Day 2 and the Recorder
from Day 1 would be the Tech. Support on Day 2.
á
Group Presentation: When the project has been completed, all groups will be
expected to present their ecosystem book.
In the WebQuest rubric, we have noted that all students must participate
in the group presentation. This is
a great way to complete the project and recognize all the work that students
have done!
